How to play Gem Blitz
A fast, retro match-3 puzzler — swap neon gems, line up three or more, and chain giant cascades.
🎯 Goal
The board is an 8×8 grid of coloured gems. Swap any two adjacent gems to line up three or more of the same colour in a row or column. Matched gems clear, everything above them collapses down, and fresh gems drop in from the top — often creating chain reactions that score big. Rack up as many points as you can.
🕹️ Controls
- Swipe: press a gem and flick it toward the neighbour you want to swap with.
- Tap: tap one gem to select it, then tap an adjacent gem to swap.
- Desktop: click-and-drag or click two neighbours — same as touch.
- A swap that doesn't create a match snaps back — it doesn't cost you anything.
💥 Special gems
- Match 4 in a line to forge an Exploder (marked ✦). When it's cleared in a later match, it blows up every gem in the 3×3 area around it.
- Match 5 in a line to create a Colour Orb (the glowing gem). Swap the orb into any gem to clear every gem of that colour from the whole board.
- Trigger these near big clusters, or chain them together, for huge cascades.
⚙️ Scoring & cascades
- Each cleared gem is worth points, and every step of a cascade multiplies the score — a x3 or x4 chain is where the real points are.
- Bigger matches and special-gem explosions clear more at once, feeding longer chains.
- Your best score is saved per mode on your device.
⏱️ Modes
- Blitz: score as high as you can in 60 seconds. Fast, frantic, all about combos.
- Endless: no timer — play until the board runs out of legal moves. Great for chasing a slow, careful high score.
💡 Tips
- Look for moves that set off a cascade rather than just clearing three — the drop-in gems often match for free.
- Save your orb for whichever colour currently covers the most of the board.
- Line up an exploder next to a tight cluster so its blast triggers even more matches.
